Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF) is authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260, and was signed into law on December 27, 2020. In total, the CRRSAA authorizes $81.88 billion in support for education, in addition to the $30.75 billion expeditiously provided last spring through the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Public Law 116-136.

Durham Technical Community College is participating in the HEERF funds and will have emergency grants available for students. 

Eligible Students

Credit and dual enrolled high schools must have been enrolled in a Spring 2021 credit course. Non-credit students must be active in at least one eligible course on or after December 27, 2020. Students of all residency statuses including international and undocumented students, are eligible.

Credit Students
All students, regardless of Title IV eligibility (Financial Aid) may be eligible for this grant. This includes students not enrolled in a degree-seeking program.

Non-Credit Students
Students enrolled in selected courses may be eligible.

Dual Enrolled High School Students:
All students, despite still being a high school student, may be eligible for this grant.

How to apply

Students must complete an application to receive funding. Students should use their student log in (the email and password used for Self-Service and Sakai) to complete the application. Applicants will receive an email within 7 days of submitting their application with the decision.
